Other Artworks

  • Pieta - given to Vic by the family of his nanny Aling Aurelia Sanchez upon her instructions when she died in 2006, Baltazar Fornaliza's oil on canvas interpretation of the Pieta is situated right above the main entrance of the Café, as if a reminder of the very reason for our salvation.
  • La Naval – given by Rev. Fr. Roland Mactal, OP, this is a photo reproduction of the image of the La Gran Señora de Filipinas which dates back to the 1930s when the Sto. Domingo Church was still located in Intramuros
  • Bust of Saint Dominic - a gift from Rev. Fr. Boyd Sulpico, OP, this is a reproduction of the same bust found in Bologna that was carved after a scientific analysis had been made of the relic of his skull, so as to obtain a true image of our holy father's face
  • Ven Francisca
  • Talahib - a mixed media on paper artwork by Rev. Fr. Jose Martin Sibug, OP
  • Pen and ink sketch of St. Dominic de Guzman, founder of the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans) by Jose Alain Austria
  • This mandala by Jose Alain Austria presents the 13th Century Dominican Blessing. It is a Dominican custom for a Dominican community to pray a 13th Century Dominican blessing before a member of the Dominican family departs for a new location. The text is attributed to Blessed Jordan of Saxony, who followed Saint Dominic as the Master of the Order in 1221.
